"Breastfeeding is for poor people."

Yes, this was said to me by one of our friends, half-joking, half-serious. His reasoning behind this? Breastfeeding is pushed so that those that use goverment assistance aren't spending more tax dollars on formula. I let him know that I planned on breastfeeding until at least a year. Oh, and then he found out we cloth diaper as well. Apparently, this information together makes one ask, "What are you, hippies now?"

"Free yourself" & "Support the economy and buy formula," could also be heard that day.

I don't make this shit up, people. Sometimes, I wish I did.

It's been too long.

My little man is 8.5 months old already! Here is a somewhat recent photo.
Next up on my blogging list is photos of our place. It's finally time I show you what it looks like to live in a "barn"!

I'm convinced

If I could bottle up baby laughs, I would be rich.

Maybe the growling too? That's new this week.

Sunscreen safety

Our weather has been super nice and warm. Odd and early, but I'll take it. I didn't imagine I would need to be thinking about covering little man in sunscreen yet, but after a walk yesterday in the sunshine I decided it was time. I've always been worried about what is in the sunscreen I am wearing, so no surprise that I am more concerned with what he is having rubbed into his skin. I found this helpful website that rates sunscreen and thought I would pass it along. You can search different criteria or just check them out by ratings.

Also, my little man is already 6.5 months old and I really need to get back to posting more!

Things my husband says..

While watching tv, a Valentine's Day commercial was playing.

"Oh shit, when is Valentine's Day? The 15th?"

My mind went back

My little man isn't huge on sleep. He just doesn't require that much. Add in teething, (he has his two bottom ones now, already!) and we have had some rough nights. The husband just happened to walk in to the bedroom the other day while I was holding bubba, and this song was playing from his phone. Not that I ever forget how lucky we are to have him and all we went through, but sometimes a reminder is nice. I teared up hearing this part.

Just the other night the baby was cryin
So I got out of bed, rocked him awhile and I held him tight
And I told him it would be all right

My mind went back to a few years ago
We tried so long, we almost gave up hope...

Note to self

Let the past make you better, not bitter.
