"Breastfeeding is for poor people."

Yes, this was said to me by one of our friends, half-joking, half-serious. His reasoning behind this? Breastfeeding is pushed so that those that use goverment assistance aren't spending more tax dollars on formula. I let him know that I planned on breastfeeding until at least a year. Oh, and then he found out we cloth diaper as well. Apparently, this information together makes one ask, "What are you, hippies now?"

"Free yourself" & "Support the economy and buy formula," could also be heard that day.

I don't make this shit up, people. Sometimes, I wish I did.

  1. Holy cow. Seriously? As someone who tried breastfeeding and failed, comments like these irk me so bad. Plus... what the heck is wrong with saving money?!

  2. Breastfeeding is for babies! Seriously. Ugh. Why else would our body make milk? Idiot.

  3. I don't think I'd ever heard that one ;) Now I'm going to ask you to keep track of all of the "gems" your friend has to say about life. May be worth keeping a list.
